2017 New Year New You…

Hello Healthy Hair Tribe!

As we head into the New Year, are you setting an intention to take back control of your hair health?  If so, look no further.

WE BELIEVE THAT LACK OF BLOOD FLOW TO THE SCALP AND FOLLICLE CAUSE HAIR THINNING AND LOSS. WE HAVE LEARNED THAT DHT BUILD-UP, INFLAMMATION AND MINERAL DEFICIENCY CAN IMPACT THE HEALTH OF YOUR SCALP AND HAIR.

Did you know that we know more about our cell phones and our tablets than we do about our own body? Seriously! When it comes to our bodies and how they work and function, we really don't have a clue!

The interesting thing about hair thinning and hair loss systems currently available is that they are ignoring the fact that hair thinning and hair loss is our body’s own protection software letting us know that something is unbalanced and blocking our blood flow to the scalp. Has your phone or computer ever had a pop-up that tells you a virus or malware exists? Your body has a built in warning system too - it sits on top of your head! Your hair is saying, "Hey, take a look, there's something going on internally that you have to address."

I’m hoping to create awareness of how important it is to understand how to utilize our hair to look at our overall health. In combination with using HEALTHY HAIR NECTAR, here is a new approach to looking at our hair thinning and loss…. A lot of the time hair loss is not just genetic and goes much deeper than what we see on top of our heads. We need to pay attention to the warning signs.

My intention for 2017 is not only for you to have FABULOUS hair, I WANT YOU TO BE WELL. I am aware that this is an abnormal statement for me to make when I am in the hair and beauty business. My goal for the New Year is to educate and help you have that “ah ha” moment to take back control of your health and wellness which will directly help you accomplish your healthy hair goals. The cool thing is that once we have this moment, we start opening up to learning new ways that we can start shifting our lives to truly be well.

While I promise to deliver cool DIY hair remedies and foods that help the health of our hair, I will also be sharing what I have learned about overall wellness on my healthy hair journey with the help of my friends in the Natural wellness world. So here is my first wellness gift in 2017….

Yummy Hair Energizing Smoothies! You can start the New Year off right by incorporating these 2 simple smoothie recipes into your diet. With power-packed ingredients, these Hair Energizing Smoothies will promote health and wellness and help you achieve your healthy hair goals in 2017.  

2 Best Smoothies for Natural Hair Growth

Spinach + Cucumber + Apple + Honey Smoothie This smoothie is loaded with iron – which improves the quality of our blood. It is also a great source of folic acid (A HEALTHY HAIR MUST!) and vitamins C, A & K. Cucumber is loaded with minerals and has recently been shown to be both an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. Honey is an anti fungal, this will help your scalp as most dandruff shampoos have anti-fungal ingredients to combat the dryness. Last but not least, you know what they say about apples! One a day keeps the doc away! They are also powered by Vitamin C, B and is also an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Ingredients:

1 cup of spinach + ½ of a medium cucumber + 1 tablespoon honey + 1 small to medium apple

Sweet Potato + Banana Smoothie This one is a newbie for me and I was reluctant to try at first…I started incorporating sweet potatoes into my diet and I saw major changes in my hair and skin pretty quickly. Why? Sweet potatoes have vitamin A which impacts our skin and scalp health which improves the environment for hair growth. Potassium in bananas is a mineral that is essential for heart health, especially blood flow. (Did you know a popular prescribed drug for hair loss is a vasodilator, which widens blood flow?) Almonds are great for cholesterol reduction because they contain riboflavin (Vitamin B2) which helps blood flow, so they can reduce inflammation, promote a healthy metabolism and digestive system.

Ingredients: 1 medium banana + 1 small cooked sweet potato + 2 cups almond milk (use more for a thinner consistency)
